Letter to Feinstein & Boxer

Dear Senator:

I’m sorry, but the Cap and Trade Bill you are considering is a tax. It is a Carbon Tax, but renamed to try to confuse those of us who will pay it.

Strangely, the political class will not pay it – they get taxpayer money to fuel their cars both in Washington and Sacramento.

I understand that the purpose of the Carbon tax is to make fossil fuels more expensive, so that alternative fuels can compete. This is the opposite of common sense. Logic says: The marketplace will respond when alternative fuel is cheaper than fossil fuels, so the idea of a Command Economy you will force fossil fuels more expensive than alternative fuels.

This Command Economy thing: How did Ethanol work out for you? Another environmental “Oooops” – but it didn’t cost you personally, anything. It only cost the taxpayer.

I would be interested in your activity, just to see how divorced you might be from reality; When was the last time you pumped your own gas that you personally paid for, into a car you personally paid for? If you ever get to see this letter, which I sincerely doubt, just answer the question for yourself. Consider it a Reality Check.

The President admitted that Cap and Trade will make electricity costs “skyrocket.”

Smart move, in a down economy!

But as a member of America’s nomenclature, skyrocketing electric and fuel costs are just a problem for we who “eat cake.”

This bill has great potential to destroy a weakened American economy, while making China and India (among others) more competitive. It is egalitarian only internationally, while it is regressive at home.

In short, Cap and Trade is a disaster.

It is Unilateral Economic Disarmament. I only hope that you see that clearly.

Respectfully,
