Mysteries of Life

Liberals live in a world of selective sensibilities. They hate the burning of the Quran, but SELDOM (NEVER?) never condemn the burning of the American flag.

They believe that the First Amendment supports the act of burning the flag, or building the mosque, or publishing the Pentagon Papers or Wikileaks – AND THAT THE ACT OF DOING THESE THINGS EMBRACE, SUPPORT AND CONSECRATE THE PRINCIPLES INVOLVED.

Liberals condemn opponents of the mosque near Ground Zero as opposing the principle of freedom of religion. Liberals condemn objectors of Wikileaks as opposing the principle of freedom of speech, while supporting condemnation of “hate speech” – despite the absolute wording of the First Amendment.

Liberals join with conservatives only on the subject of the burning of the Quran – where apparently something tells them that even if it is legal it should not be done. The “should not be done” they could not find with the burning of the flag, or the publishing of Wikileaks or Pentagon Papers, or the building of the mosque at Ground Zero SUDDENLY (and mysteriously) comes to the fore.

The only thing I can think of that causes liberals to find a “should not be done” instead of a “demonstration and strengthening of the principle” is that burning the Quran has impact in foreign countries – and liberals seem to have a great, almost overpowering affinity for the sensitivities of those outside this nation, that they cannot find for those of us in this nation.

Finally!

I see in the morning paper that Duke Cunningham is loudly complaining that the IRS has ruined his life.

I knew that if I lived long enough, I could find something I liked about the IRS.
