Beats Me!

The NCTimes is reporting the arrest of seven illegal aliens at a Torrey pines Beach, and that there was a small boat abandoned nearby.

You are kidding, right?

There must be 20 street corners in North County where the authorities can pick up ten time that number, while also picking up a cup of coffee!

And a measly seven arrests gets a headline!

The mind boggles.

Then there is the question of the San Diego Police doing the arresting. SDPD are not permitted to ask if a driver is in the country illegally if the driver does not have a license and insurance, but can stop people just because there is a loose boat nearby?

Did they “profile?” was it based on dress? Language? Facial hair?

This whole situation begs – absolutely BEGS for some sanity – and there is none being displayed.

A little consistency would be nice. A little rationality would be even better.

(None in sight.)

Let’s see if I can divine the policy: If you are wet, you are eligible to be arrested by the SDPD, but if you can dry off you are immune?

Arghhhh….

Amnesty for Illegals? I think not.

I remember the Reagan amnesty – in fact I participated in it by sponsoring two Latinos for citizenship.

1) It was supposed to be a “one time” amnesty.

2) Congress was supposed to vote money to seal the border (They didn’t)

3.) An estimated 2 million were predicted to apply for citizenship – 3+ million applied.

4.) The English and civics study system crashed – it could not even handle the predicted 2 million

5. We have a government estimated 11 million illegals now – and if the previous government estimation is again under by 40% — we are looking at 15+ million.

6. If the previous government requirement of English, Civics and back taxes crashed at 3 million, what are the odds it will succeed at (fill in the blank, but at LEAST 11 million.)

The Einstein warning on insanity holds true here.

Which Phone? Which Phone?

We are in the “Phone of the Month” Club period — waiting appears to be the best policy. We need to have the market sort this out — but some phones are not scheduled until January and that is too long for me.

Here is the best analysis I have seen thus far — but we need to see how the Apple ACTUALLY works, and even then, specifications  are not everything. Many aspects — like cars — are simply subjective.

Have you noticed how few people drive the same make, model, and color of cars on the freeway?

I suppose phones. like cars and clothes, and wristwatches, spouses, and…. are just different for different people.

Personally, I am awaiting the new Blackberry before jumping. As the new consumer-oriented Android and Apple phones try to do business, the business-oriented Blackberry will PROBABLY move toward some consumer capability.
