Just Tired of Losing…

I have yet to see the McChrystal interview, but it is apparent that our fighting brass is unhappy with the politicos.

It is ever thus.

Politicians are concerned about things that military commanders have less sensitivity to, like Rules of Engagement. In Vietnam, as I have recounted, my submarine was not allowed to sink a NV dredge leaving Haiphong Harbor, my Academy roommate resigned (even after being invited to fly with the blue Angels) because he was refused permission to fire back at SAM missile sites because they were on Ho Chi Minh’s personal palace!

In Afghanistan, we have too many rules putting our men at risk.

That tends to make military commanders angry.
